When Mike Williams began as a consultant in the fall of 1981, he was drawing on a history of work in training, broadcasting, media relations, and marketing. Although he was best known for promotional writing, he soon began to attract clients who relied on his expertise as a strategist, developing the framework for promotional campaigns in a number of fields.

In the mid-80s, he began to work extensively with motivational speaker Les Brown, a long-time collaborator from their earlier days in broadcasting, who was about to become his best-known client. Brown had just decided to enter the arena of professional speaking and training, so he decided he needed the help of his ‘mentor’ of several years, to make the most of his speaking career.

What started at the very beginning of Les Brown’s entrepreneurial speaking career in 1986 is a close collaboration that continues today. So, the creative and strategic thinking that established Mike as a resource for growing businesses of various kinds, as well as non-profit organizations, became a primary resource for the launching of Les Brown’s career as a professional speaker, trainer, author, broadcaster and entrepreneur.

Although his other clients from over 30 years of consulting, coaching and training are not as well known as Les Brown, they represent a wide range of challenges and successes. They have included political candidates and issues, as well as educational, health advocacy, human service, and cultural organizations. Companies or projects have ranged in fields as diverse as food-processing and ophthalmic medicine, from television syndication to lobbying, and from orthodontics to fitness. All clients have had a common need for either solidifying their organizational base or growing their presence in the marketplace.

Mike Williams Solutions has been a resource for helping individuals and organizations define their special stuff in relation to the marketplace. As a marketing and management consultant, Mike Williams uses a process seasoned over a period of 35 years, to analyze problems and opportunities from personal, professional, organizational and promotional perspectives. This unique process helps him see things others might miss or might misinterpret.

Mike works especially well with people who are high-powered, high-profile, high-pressure, high-impact personalities, who are looking to maximize their unique stuff. They are typically independent professionals or heads of their companies or organizations. He has a track record of doing what he does to the highest standard. Since its inception as a consulting company in 1981, Mike Williams Solutions has been involved in a variety of projects, and with a variety of companies and organizations. Following are some examples of our projects:
  • Developed marketing plan for re-opening a manufacturing company, including re-establishing wholesale and retail business
  • Created an intensive, 3-day residential training program for fast-track, young professionals developing their careers in a Fortune 500 company
  • Developed strategy and multi-media campaign, to boost regional membership in a business advocacy organization
  • Conducted a problem/opportunity assessment, created plan to improve a county’s adoptions for hard-to-place infants and children
  • Developed strategic marketing and organizational plan, to establish corporate inroads for a newly created speaking/seminar company
  • Created a hands-on marketing workshop for aspiring young entrepreneurs, including tools and strategies for success in their privately funded ventures
  • Produced, developed and scripted a promotional video, to establish and enhance a public speaker’s brand; selected as an industry model by a national organization
  • Assisted a newly created museum in defining its public profile, to attract visitors and donors, and enhance funding opportunities
  • Developed strategy, plans and promotional media for various political campaigns, to help candidates and issues succeed, and increase voter registration and voter turnout 
  • Designed, developed and co-presented an intensive, 4-day, hands-on workshop, covering the art and the business of public speaking, to enhance trainees’ success in both areas 
  • Developed a marketing and organizational plan, along with a policies and procedures manual, to assist a dental specialist in strengthening his practice and attracting patients and referring dentists
  • Conducted a problem/opportunity assessment and developed a strategic plan for a newly created statewide public health agency, to insure success in funding, outreach and improved community health
  • Led negotiations, developed concepts, and served as consulting producer for various television and radio productions 
  • Produced, developed and scripted a radio campaign for a month-long, coordinated, anti-violence effort, designed to raise awareness, shape attitudes and reduce violence
  • Provided trouble-shooting analyses, to identify problems and opportunities for a variety of small businesses, to improve branding, increase market share and business growth
  • Conducted consulting/coaching sessions for a variety of high-profile, high-powered professionals in such non-traditional roles as entertainers, authors, public speakers, entrepreneurs and political leaders
